1. Can I do my handgun training on-line?

No. We cannot accept any training that has been done solely on-line. You must have hands-on training from a NRA certified instructor.

2. Is there such a thing as being “grandfathered in”?

No. The Colorado State Statute clearly states that every Sheriff’s Department must determine whether or not the applicant has had sufficient training in order to obtain a CCW/CHP.

3. If I have a gun, do I have to obtain a CCW/CHP?

No. You do not need a permit if the gun stays in your home or in your own vehicle. Colorado recognizes a personal vehicle as being an extension of your home. You also do not need a permit if you carry your weapon unconcealed.
