Interviews with Applicants for County Coroner

The elected County Coroner resigned his position effective April 16, 2023 and an interim Coroner was appointed until a more permanent Coroner could be appointed.  State Statute provides that the Board of County Commissioners shall be the body responsible for the appointment of an official to fill the vacancy of the unexpired term of an elected official.  The Board received letters of interest to fill this vacancy and will interview Shannon Balderas and Bradley Hunt.

EXECUTIVE SESSION

Pursuant to C.R.S. 24-6-402(4): The Board reserves the right to meet in executive session for any purposes allowed and announced prior to voting to enter into executive session.

Executive Session

Pursuant to C.R.S. 24-6-402(4), upon the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the quorum present, the Board will hold an executive session pursuant to C.R.S. 24-6-402(4)(f)(I) to discuss personnel matters relating to the candidates for the vacant position of County Coroner.

Consideration of Appointment of County Coroner

State Statute provides that the Board of County Commissioners shall be the body responsible for the appointment of an official to fill the vacancy of the unexpired term of an elected official. Following the interviews, the Board may appoint said permanent Coroner effective May 1, 2023.
