1. How do I compliment, complain or ask a question about a deputy?

Information about the services we render is received in several ways. The first would be to walk into the Sheriff’s Office on the West end of the County Building at 449 San Juan St. during normal business hours (8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday). The second would be to call the Sheriff’s Office front desk at (970) 264-8430 during normal business hours, or leave a message at the same number during non-business hours. You will be directed to the proper person to receive your information.

2. How do I report a crime?

The best method for reporting a crime is to contact the Archuleta County Combined Dispatch at (970) 731-2160. Your call will be directed to the appropriate agency and a representative of the agency will contact you directly. You can also walk into the Sheriff’s Office on the West end of the County Building at 449 San Juan St. or call the front desk at (970) 264-8430

3. What should I do with another person’s belongings that I have found?

To turn in found property, you may call Archuleta County Combined Dispatch at (970) 731-2160 to request a Deputy to meet you. You may also take the item(s) to the Sheriff’s Office on the West end of the County Building at 449 San Juan St. Some information will be taken from you for the purposes of documenting the found property. A short form is provided for you to fill out at the Front Desk.

4. How do I inquire about property that I have lost?

If you have lost some property, you may inquire at the Sheriff’s Office by walking into the West end of the County building at 449 San Juan St. You may also call the front desk at (970) 264-8430 and ask about your lost property. Collection of some property may require proof of ownership and a signature.
