**Due to the Coronavirus, starting March 16th the Sheriff’s Office will have limited contact with the public. Many employees will be working remotely. Our patrol Deputies will be serving the community while having an alternative response system in place to process non-emergent calls and reports by phone or email but will still respond to emergencies. The Sheriff’s Office does not want to compromise the safety of our citizens or employees.
Should you need any assistance, please do not hesitate to call 911 for emergencies or 970-731-2160 for non-emergent responses.
Thank you for your understanding.**
The mission of the Archuleta County Sheriff's Office is to protect and serve the citizens of our county through innovative hard work and community partnerships.
The Sheriff's Office is responsible for over 1,300 square miles and serves a population of approximately 40,000 at the peak of our season.
Our jurisdiction ranges from the base of the beautiful Wolf Creek Mountain to the equally beautiful valley of Bayfield, from the Weminuche Wilderness on to the New Mexico state line.
Sheriff Richard Valdez, Undersheriff Derek Woodman, and the entire staff are proud of the service we deliver. We encourage feedback to ensure our services remain the best in the country.
