Animal Control
You may call any time to report animal problems at (970) 731-2160. All animals picked up by Archuleta County Deputies are taken to the Humane Society of Pagosa Springs, located at 465 Cloman Boulevard, Pagosa Springs.
Duties
- Investigates, prevents, and stops animal neglect and cruelty
- Educates the public about animal welfare
- Enforces animal-related laws by educating pet owners, issuing citations and, if necessary, impounding animals
- Protects the public from dangerous animals
- Quarantines animals that have bitten or attacked other animals or people
- Rescues animals that are in danger, sick, or injured
- Assists other law enforcement agencies

- Barking dogs
- Found dogs
- Aggressive animals
- Stray animals that are injured, sick, or in danger
